WestRider
Wow. I never would have called that one. Heck, I don't think anyone but Nayden would have.
pretre
Flyrants are hella good.
WestRider
Yeah, but lots of people were running Flyrants, and overall, Nids didn't do that great. Nayden won with 6 Lictors and solo Tyrant Guard, which is what pretty much no one would have expected.
fluger
As someone who's always loved lictors, this fills me with immense glee.
Lord Hanaur
Ditto. Love to see success coming to creative builds.

It's an amazing achievement. :)
PumpkinHead
I like this lictor list better then the original one. Much mute punch to this one.

fluger
I just found it! 3 Flyrants is pretty strong too. There's really no fat on that list, it's just a nasty ball of pain. 2+ re-rollable reserves is hilarious.
fluger
What's weird is that it looks like Nick Rose was overpaying for his scouts. If I'm reading it right, his units with combi-grav should be 120 pts and the one with nothing should be 110. It looks like he's paying 130 for each... fluger
That list is NASTY good, being able to basically ignore troops choices is hilariously effective. 3 Flyrants, 6 Lictors, 3 Mawlocs... That's pretty meaty.
Jayne_Cobbb
Hmmm. I watched the final. And I was really surprised at the two lists that were there. Both those lists are good, but they do not seem scary. Maybe i just don't get them. I know the power of the individual units, and i understand how they work together, but i guess i am just not scared of lictors (maybe i should be?), I guess i will have to get eaten alive by it first. fluger
Lictors are just nice because they are cheap and can damage a lot of things and are quick and they also help the mawlocs show up and hit what they want them to hit. A lictor, on it's own, has a legit chance of taking out any rear AV10 unit in the game on the charge. For the points, there aren't that many units that can do that. Combo that with fleet and move through cover and it's non-scatter deep strike, and there's no real good place to hide. It's also really hard to bubble wrap to protect against a single model. That being said, they are fairly easy to shoot and kill, but with 6 on the board and their good cover save, they eat up a lot of shooting and that lets the mawlocs and flyrants do their things. It's threat overload and it's exacerbated by a 2+ re-rollable reserve roll so they are all coming in turn 2. Pretty nasty list overall.
generalripphook
Yeah looking at the match up I would have favored the tyranid player. He just has a much nastier list.
fluger
That SoT/BA list is nasty too. I know Frenchie was looking at running something similar.
DisruptiveConduct
where do you get the 2+ re-rollable reserves? is that some sort of leviathan warlord trait?
Chappy
Lictors combined with Bastion's Comms Relay.
DisruptiveConduct
Lictors no longer give any bonus to reserve rolls. I see that the comms relay provides the rerolls. But do not see anything to give a +1 to reserves unless it's part of the detachment
Chappy
Then I have no idea. I don't play bugs. It was my guess.
DisruptiveConduct
it was a good guess, cuz they use to provide a bonus last codex.
fluger
Huh, I guess you're right. Hadn't noticed that it went away. :( Fair enough, 3+ re-rollable. Better than a kick in the nuts then.
fluger
Also, I had mentioned that it looked like that second list was short on points, and it appears that it was. Nick Rose, darkwynn, inventor of LeafBlower, feel victim to Battlescribe sucking and was playing with a 1800 point list instead of a 1850 pt one. What could those 50 pts have done for him? I'm sure quite a bit. Yikes.
